Frequently Asked Questions

About Thrive Pediatric Medical Group

What makes Thrive Pediatrics different from other Bellevue pediatricians?

We reimagine pediatric care through 30-45 minute appointments, integrated specialty services under one roof, and genuine relationships with families. You won’t shuffle between multiple providers for tongue tie treatment, lactation support, ADHD evaluation, or allergy testing—we handle it all. Timothy Ahn, our lead pediatric nurse practitioner, trained at Massachusetts General Hospital and brings nearly a decade of experience including time as a US Army combat medic and healthcare work in East Africa.

Where is your Bellevue office located?

Our primary office is at 1515 116th Ave NE, Suite 104, Bellevue, WA 98004, in the Bellegrove Medical Park near Overlake Medical Center. We offer lactation services in the same suite.

What ages do you see?

We care for children from birth through age 21. Our ThriveADHD program extends to age 22, specifically designed to support college students who need continued ADHD care after aging out of traditional pediatric practices.

Do you accept new patients?

Yes, we’re currently accepting new patients across all age groups. We offer complimentary prenatal meet-and-greet consultations for expecting families who want to choose their pediatrician before their baby arrives.

Appointments & Scheduling

How do I schedule an appointment?

Call us at 425-247-3362 or message through our patient portal. We prioritize same-day sick visit availability—you shouldn’t wait hours at urgent care when your child is ill.

Do you offer same-day appointments for sick visits?

Absolutely. Same-day sick visit access is a cornerstone of our practice. When your child wakes up with a fever or develops worrying symptoms, we make room in our schedule to see them quickly.

What are your office hours?

Contact us at 425-247-3362 for current scheduling availability, including extended hours options. We also provide a 24/7 nursing hotline for after-hours concerns—call the same number and follow the prompts to reach our on-call provider.

How long are typical appointments?

Well-child visits run 30-45 minutes. You’ll have time to discuss concerns, ask questions, and leave feeling heard.

Do you offer virtual visits?

Yes, we provide HIPAA-compliant virtual visits for allergies, asthma, rashes, cold symptoms, eye infections, urinary symptoms, fever (for children 3 months and older), and behavioral health concerns. Our ThriveADHD program operates entirely virtually, serving families across Washington State.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We charge $100 for late cancellations (within 24 hours of appointment), late arrivals (10+ minutes), and no-shows. Three consecutive no-shows result in discharge from the practice. We maintain this policy because every appointment slot could serve another family with an urgent need.

Insurance & Payment

What insurance do you accept?

We accept major commercial insurance including Premera, Aetna, Regence, Cigna, Kaiser (PPO only), United Healthcare (PPO only), and First Choice First Health. We also accept Apple Health (Medicaid), Molina, Coordinated Care, and Amerigroup.

Is ThriveADHD covered by insurance?

ThriveADHD operates as a cash-pay program with transparent pricing: $255+ for initial diagnostic evaluation, $80 per titration phase follow-up (every 1-2 weeks), and $60/month membership after stabilization. We provide superbills for insurance reimbursement, but we don’t bill insurance directly. This model eliminates insurance hassles and gives you predictable costs.

Do you charge for after-hours calls?

No. Our 24/7 nursing hotline is available to established patients without additional fees. Call 425-247-3362 and follow the prompts to reach our on-call provider. We’re here when you need guidance, whether it’s 2pm or 2am.

Services We Offer

What services do you provide beyond regular check-ups?

We integrate five distinct service lines: primary pediatric care (well visits, sick visits, sports physicals), tongue tie and lip tie laser treatment using CO2 technology, lactation consultation (ThriveLatch), ADHD evaluation and management (ThriveADHD), and allergy skin testing for both food and environmental allergens. This eliminates the referral runaround—you get comprehensive care under one roof.

Do you treat tongue ties? What makes your approach different?

Our clinic uses a CO2 laser for tongue-tie release when a procedure is recommended after evaluation. Feeding support and other possible causes of feeding difficulty should be considered first. Ask your clinician about the expected benefits, risks, alternatives, and follow-up. Unlike standalone tongue tie specialists, your child’s pediatrician performs the treatment, providing continuity of care and ongoing developmental monitoring.

Do you have lactation support on-site?

ThriveLatch offers in-house lactation services alongside your child’s pediatric care, addressing latch difficulties, milk supply concerns, nipple pain, weight gain issues, pumping transitions, and return-to-work planning. No more juggling separate appointments with lactation consultants, dentists, and pediatricians for feeding problems.

Can you test for food allergies? At what age?

We offer allergy skin testing for both food and environmental allergens for children as young as 6 months. Results come back in 15 minutes—no needles, no bloodwork, no months-long waits for allergy specialist referrals.

Do you diagnose and treat ADHD?

Through ThriveADHD, we provide comprehensive ADHD evaluation and ongoing medication management for ages 6-22. The program operates virtually across Washington State, making it particularly valuable for college students who need flexible appointments and continued care after turning 18. We emphasize evidence-based treatment with medication as first-line for school-age children and adolescents, but we never push medication—treatment is always a partnership.

Well Visits & Preventive Care

What happens during a well-child visit?

Well visits include comprehensive growth monitoring, developmental screenings, age-appropriate immunizations, nutrition guidance, and behavioral health assessment. With 30-45 minute appointments, we actually have time to address your questions about sleep, behavior, feeding, or anything else on your mind. First-time parents consistently tell us these extended visits build their confidence.

Do you follow the standard vaccination schedule?

We follow evidence-based guidelines from the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics. We’re happy to discuss any vaccine concerns and explain the research behind recommendations. Our goal is informed decision-making through partnership, not pressure.

Can I bring my teenager for confidential visits?

Absolutely. We recognize that adolescents (ages 13-21) need different care than young children. Teen visits include age-appropriate health screenings, sports physicals, and behavioral health support with appropriate privacy and confidentiality.

For New Families

Should I schedule a complimentary meet-and-greet before my baby is born?

We strongly recommend it. Our complimentary virtual meet-and-greet lets expecting families ask questions, meet Timothy Ahn, and ensure we’re the right fit—all before delivery stress hits. Many parents tell us this advance meeting reduced their first-time parent anxiety significantly.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please complete the online registration and check-in forms before your visit when possible. What to bring depends on the appointment. Review the preparation instructions for your visit type, or call or text 425-247-3362 with questions. For records from another practice, follow our medical record transfer instructions.

Can you help with breastfeeding issues from the start?

Absolutely. While many hospitals schedule visits with their own lactation consultants, our lactation nurse can see you before your newborn’s first pediatric visit to address questions and concerns—including prenatal breastfeeding counseling. Many local lactation services are booked out days to weeks, but research shows the sooner you get lactation support, the more likely mothers succeed with breastfeeding. If your baby struggles with feeding, we can evaluate for tongue tie and provide lactation support at the same location—often in the same visit.

Our Team & Credentials

Who will see my child at appointments?

Timothy Ahn, MSN, ARNP, CPNP-PC, serves as our lead pediatric clinician. He completed pediatric primary care training at Massachusetts General Hospital, served as a US Army combat medic, and brings unique cultural sensitivity from years working in East Africa. Kim Ahn, BSN, RN, our lead nurse, has experience at Boston Children’s Hospital, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and Randall Children’s Hospital across emergency, surgical, and oncology units. You’ll see the same provider consistently, not rotating doctors who don’t know your history.

When did Thrive Pediatrics open?

We founded the practice in 2023 with a mission to reimagine pediatric care as personal, accessible, and deeply human. Multiple families have been with us since day one, and many followed Timothy Ahn from his previous practice—testament to the relationships we build.
